grade-b-plusFew players have the capacity to change the game on both ends of the floor when in the game like Kirilenko does, and when he plays, his impact’s felt; Kirilenko’s sublime understanding of space and time help him make plays that other players can’t envision.

When he’s played, he’s been one of their best two-way players, and the team has followed: they’ve got a 15-7 record when Kirilenko plays (13-4 in the new year) and 9-20 when he sits. But unfortunately for Kirilenko — and the Nets — he played sparingly in the team’s first four games before sitting out with the worst back spasms of his career until the last day of December. He’d only just begun stringing together a series of games when a sore calf kept him out another week. If he can shake the injury bug, there’s a lot of upside in the second half.
