Mikhail Prokhorov to sell minority share in Nets, will remain majority owner

Resolution: Stay patient and committed to 2018

The Brooklyn Nets are in this precarious position because of owner Mikhail Prokhorov -- but believe me when I say it's not the end of the world, truly. Show me a person that immediately disparaged the Celtics trade and I'll show you a liar.

The point is, Prokhorov has been a dream leader, the kind of owner that fans of franchises have longed for since Mark Cuban's endless wallet pushed the Dallas Mavericks to new heights. Hindsight is always 20/20, but you grow to appreciate an owner like Prokhorov that's willing to roll the dice with their eyes on the prize instead of penny-pinching to another seventh seed and first round defeat.

And yet here we are in 2017, so what has changed with Prokhorov? In no uncertain terms, everything.

Now having officially punched the reset button and committed to the long road, Prokhorov must now be willing to stay the course and be patient. With Kenny Atkinson and Sean Marks, the franchise is in better hands, so let them work their magic -- that alone is, perhaps, the Russian billionaire's most important role.

These problems are impossible to solve overnight, or even in the next year and change, so letting Caris LeVert, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Chris McCullough develop without the twinge or worry that they'll be shipped off for Carmelo Anthony tomorrow will be his best action plan this year.

Prokhorov deserves some of the blame for this mess, make no mistake, but he certainly deserves much of the praise for turning the horrendous New Jersey-based franchise into a legitimate New York brand -- in time, the players will come as well.

Mikhail Prokhorov to sell minority share in Nets, will remain majority owner Mikhail Prokhorov, the Brooklyn Nets’ owner, has retained Allen & Co. in order to sell a minority share of the franchise, reports Darren Rovell of ESPN and many other New York-based outlets. As our friends at NetsDaily reported, importantly, Prokhorov intends to just […]

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

(AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! When the Brooklyn Nets faced the Los Angeles Clippers two weeks ago, the elite franchise was dominating the Western Conference, humiliating opposing sides, and the Nets were still without Jeremy Lin. Now, on the crux of December, not much has changed, unfortunately. Your Nets are current losers of seven-straight games and while the Clippers’ […]

The ABCs of Thanksgiving

(AP Photo/Alonzo Adams)

The ABCs of Thanksgiving  In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we thought it might be worthwhile to look at the ABCs of the Brooklyn Nets just under one month into the season. Sure, it’s been rough, at times, and unfortunate, of course, that Jeremy Lin has missed so much time already — but with a renewed […]

Roundtable: The Absence of Jeremy Lin

Lin

Roundtable: The Absence of Jeremy Lin All summer, the Brooklyn Nets were examined and analyzed through a Jeremy Lin-esque lens — and rightfully so, as the point guard was the franchise’s big splash signing. To this point, even at 2-4, the Nets are one of the NBA’s surprise team and their pace and penchant for […]
