In what’s been this preseason’s running theme injury-wise, starting guard Deron Williams will sit out tonight’s preseason game against the Miami Heat as he continues to rest his sore ankle. He’s joined on the inactive list by Jason Terry (knee), Andrei Kirilenko (back spasms), Tyshawn Taylor (ankle) and Tornike Shengelia (knee).
Williams said last week that he’d sit out three preseason games, with tonight’s game against the Heat his target for return. He has not returned to practice, but has done light shootaround drills and has taken shots before most preseason games without limping or showing any ill effects.
Terry underwent surgery in the offseason to “clean up” the knee and has yet to play in preseason. Kirilenko sat out of Sunday’s practice for the first time with the spasms and has yet to return to the floor, either in practice or in games. He’ll miss his second straight game.
Taylor sprained his ankle during Saturday’s game against the Detroit Pistons, leaving the arena in a walking boot. He has not returned to practice. Shengelia underwent surgery in the offseason and has yet to practice with the team.
