The NBA will fine Jason Kidd $50,000 for an incident where he spilled a cup in an effort to gain an extra time-out for his team, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports:

Since Barclays Center charges $4 per soda, Kidd can consider this fine 12,500 potential cup spills lost.

Here’s the play once again:

The officials didn’t notice the sneaky play during the game, and the Nets did get an open look out of the play they drew up. But $50,000 is a large chunk of change, even for a head coach who’s reportedly making $10 million over the next three years. That’s a lot of cups and ice and drinks. Oh well, no use crying over spilled soda.
