Deron Williams post-surgery, scootin’ around

Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams underwent successful surgery on both ankles on May 27th, and hasn’t done much since.

“He’s bored,” Nets GM Billy King joked to reporters about his post-surgery mood, before adding that Williams was getting around on crutches.

The crutches line was a misnomer, though: Williams was fitted for two walking boots, meaning he’d have to get around with more automated transportation.

Enter the scooter, shown in this Instagram video by Matt Mitnick, who once was the Executive Assistant and Events Coordinator of Williams’s Point of Hope Foundation, and is a lifelong friend of Williams:

Williams is expected to need the boot for four to six weeks, upon which time he can resume physical activity. He’s also expected to be fine for training camp.
