Even with the classic Humphries/MarShon/pick scenario, this was by far the most common trade foundation: we know the Bobcats are interested in trading for Kris Humphries, we know they think Ben Gordon is expendable… BOOM! And away we go. At least three of you put together the exact same deal that sent Gordon, Brooks, and Blatche to Atlanta. Some of you involved Gerald Wallace, even though Wallace’s contract makes him an undesirable asset for Atlanta.

A similar one beefed up the deal for Charlotte and Utah. Both of these foundations have their flaws — I don’t think Utah trades away Al Jefferson to give themselves a logjam at shooting guard, nor do the Hawks downgrade for half a season to let Jefferson walk anyway to save the cap space.
