Using the Players Better
Some of the best moments last season came when Paul “Truth” Pierce, Jason “JET” Terry, and Reggie ‘Nets Mascot’ Evans played up to the crowd. The ‘Brooooklyn’ chants would rain down, the cheering would intensify and Barclays would be in a frenzy.
Unfortunately, they’ve all departed the team.
While it’s clear that Deron Williams, Joe Johnson, and Brook Lopez don’t have the hype bone, using the players in more fan-interactive situations (obviously not at the expense of their focus on the game) will help buoy fan support and familiarity.
We’re fans; we don’t ask much. Just be fun, acknowledge us on the odd occasion, and we’ll support the hell out of you.
Jarrett? Mason? Mirza? Bojan? Ball’s in your court.
