The First Annual Nets SportVU Awards

The Marathon Runner

AP
AP

Awarded to the player who ended the season with the most mileage, both in the regular season and playoffs (because this is a marathon, after all). Believe it or not that’s Joe Johnson, who led the team in distance traveled both in the regular season (166.9 miles) and the playoffs (30.5 miles). That’s almost 200 miles of in-game running from October to May, longer than the as-the-crow-flies distance between Brooklyn’s Barclays Center and Boston’s T.D. Garden.

The Nets weren’t big runners as a team, though: the league leader in the regular season alone, Portland’s Nicolas Batum, traveled 216 miles by himself.

Runner-Up: Deron Williams, who traveled 141.5 miles in the regular season and added 28.7 miles in the playoffs.
