Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams became the 56th player in NBA history to reach 5,000 assists Wednesday night, assisting on a Gerald Wallace midrange jumper early in the first quarter against the Detroit Pistons.
Only four players reached the 5,000-assist plateau quicker than Williams: Tim Hardaway, Jason Kidd, Kevin Johnson, and John Stockton.
