This post has little to do with the Nets, other than the fact that both teams are current members of the National Basketball Association and occasionally play each other. But sometimes, NBA news goes beyond basketball, and beyond the fact that Isaiah Thomas finished ahead of MarShon Brooks in the Rookie of the Year voting and I will never forgive them for that (okay, it was probably deserved).
While the Nets celebrated leaving New Jersey and entering a new era in Brooklyn, a small-market fanbase in Sacramento, California is in the midst of a fight for its NBA life. James Ham, who helps run the fantastic TrueHoop Sacramento Kings affiliate Cowbell Kingdom, co-produced the documentary Small Market, Big Heart, detailing Sacramento’s struggle to preserve its only sports franchise, as ownership continues to push the city further and further away.
