If you thought Brook Lopez was odd, what with his comic books, superhero obsessions, and Harry Potter t-shirts, just wait until you add his twin brother, Robin Lopez, regularly back into the mix. In a New York Times profile by Scott Cacciola, he recounts many incredible anecdotes, both new and old, about Brook and Robin’s journey from Stanford University to the pros.

At Stanford, their teammates and coaches would often lose the twins to impromptu trips to Disney, early morning comic book releases, and pre-game episodes of The Simpsons. Former Stanford captain and point guard, Mitch Johnson, recalled a team trip to Italy where one of the only rules was not to drink soda. And yet, there the Lopez twins were, hauling around two-liter bottles of Fanta.

Needless to say, Brook and Robin had difficulty staying within the team’s guidelines and recommendations on consistent basis, so the Stanford staff eventually just shrugged and gave up.

“Man, they’re still handling their business, so what can I do?”
