2014’s “Mr. Irrelevant” (earned by being the last pick in the NBA Draft) and former Nets forward Cory Jefferson signed a training camp deal with the Phoenix Suns, according to the Arizona Republic.
Jefferson never cracked a spot in the Nets rotation, playing just 10.6 minutes per game over 50 games. He produced two of the season’s biggest bloopers: a 23-footer that traveled eighteen feet, and throwing up a full-court shot with seven seconds left on the game clock.
But his energy and bounce were frequently on display when he did get a chance, and it’s no surprise Phoenix picked him up: his biggest game was a 12-point, 13-rebound outburst in just 16 minutes of playing time, mostly coming in a hotly contested fourth quarter… against the Phoenix Suns.
After fighting an ankle injury in summer league, Jefferson was waived by the Nets on July 13th, two days before a minor guarantee kicked into his contract.
