2. Deron Williams: Linsanity Destroyer
Jeremy Lin dominated national and international news for two weeks, for a variety of reasons well explained by Jay Caspian Kang and Danny Chau. As Lin’s superstardom — catapulted by his coming-out game against Deron Williams and the Nets — elevated, D-Will’s star diminished. Fans took to Twitter to remind him daily that Lin tore him to pieces. D-Will quickly became relegated to second-tier point guard status in the tri-state area to a player who was hardly more than a rookie on a hot streak.
It’s this type of discussion that births a pissed-off Deron Williams.
The next time they faced each other, D-Will reminded us why Jeremy Lin needs to prove he’s more than just a flash in the pan, and that Deron Williams is the best point guard in the New York Metropolitan area, with no discussion or debate. He did all this in the span of this 90-second video. RIP Linsanity.
