The Brooklyn Nets have officially signed 34-year-old journeyman Dahntay Jones, the team announced today. Jones will get a non-guaranteed deal with a shot to make the team out of training camp.
The deal was first reported September 7th by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.
Jones has a connection both with Nets coach Lionel Hollins (who he played under in Memphis) and general manager Billy King (who he shares an alma mater with in Duke University).
Jones played 33 games last season for the Los Angeles Clippers, averaging just under four minutes per game. He’s a longshot to make the team, but if anyone values this sort of thing, he might offer some veteran guidance in camp to a team that’s gotten significantly younger in the last two seasons.
