Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson will sit out Saturday night’s game against the Brooklyn Nets with back stiffness, the team announced before the game. Brandon Rush will start in his place.
Thompson is the team’s second-leading scorer behind Stephen Curry, averaging 15.2 points per game for the undefeated Warriors and hitting 38.6 percent of his three-pointers.
The Warriors have outscored teams by roughly seventeen points per game this season, so Thompson’s absence, while significant, shouldn’t move the needle much.
Warriors guard Leandro Barbosa is also not with the team.
