Daily Link: Mock Draft Roundup

As the 2011 NBA Draft approaches, most Nets fans are anxiously waiting to see whom the Nets will select with the 27th and 36th pick. While no one knows exactly who the Nets are looking at right now, numerous people are guessing, because: well, it’s fun.

Most reputable mock drafts differ on whom they feel the Nets will take:

  • When we looked last time, Jonathon Givony of DraftExpress had the Nets selecting Josh Selby, but has since changed; DraftExpress now has the Nets taking Tyler Honeycutt and Iman Shupert.
  • NBADraft.net and ESPN Insider Chad Ford both have the Nets taking Justin Harper with the 27th pick. NBADraft.net also has the Nets selecting Malcolm Lee in the second round.
  • The early story being written by draft pundits for the Nets is that they’ll take Harper. Harper is sometimes compared to Ryan Anderson and could provide a decent blend of athleticism and shooting. Personally, I want the Nets to grab Kenneth Faried or Honeycutt. Faried is an excellent rebounder and hustler, while Honeycutt is an athletic, long wing – in other words, a player that the Nets currently don’t have. However, both players are projecting to go in the top 20 by some mock drafts so the Nets might have to move up or buy a pick in order to secure these guys.

The Nets obviously want to get an impact player in this draft. Even if the chances are slim, the draft is key in the rebuilding process, and the Nets are currently trying to break out of that process. Hopefully, some quality role players can come out of Secaucus wearing Nets caps.
