Mirza Teletovic and Tornike Shengelia will be inactive for the Brooklyn Nets tonight, according to Coach Avery Johnson. Teletovic is seeing his first game on the inactive list. Shengelia, one of the Nets’ second-round picks, has been inactive a fair amount of the season.
Johnson was critical of Teletovic’s performance, noting that he’s not taking any minutes from Kris Humphries or Reggie Evans at this point, and when teams go small he prefers putting Gerald Wallace at the 4.
“He’ll make an impact for us at some point this season,” Johnson said, noting that there are still 72 games on the schedule, but that point is not now.
Teletovic was diplomatic about the inactivity, noting that he’s a very competitive players and that this is another chance for him to work harder, and that he still believes the Brooklyn Nets were “absolutely” the right situation for him. After signing a three-year, $9.68 million contract with the Nets this offseason, Teletovic has played just 38 minutes, shooting 6-18 from the field and 3-13 from beyond the arc.
