Even as the Brooklyn Nets face his former team in preseason, assistant coach Lawrence Frank is still away from the team due to personal reasons.
Frank left the team before Tuesday’s preseason opener against the Washington Wizards and hasn’t been back since. “He’s taking care of his personal situation,” coach Jason Kidd said on a conference call with reporters Thursday.
An official with the team said there’s no timetable for Frank’s return at this time. Frank left Detroit last season for six games in March last season to attend to his ill wife, but it’s unclear if that’s what’s keeping him away from the Nets this time around.
When asked what the team was missing from Frank’s leave of absence, Kidd joked, “his height.”
