Kevin Garnett has been suspended by the NBA for one game for his role in an altercation with Dwight Howard during Monday night’s 113-99 Nets loss to the Houston Rockets. Garnett threw a basketball at Howard’s shoulders after the two bickered, then headbutted him in the jaw. Garnett was ejected, and Howard was assessed one technical foul in the incident.
Garnett will be suspended without pay, which results in a fine of approximately $109,090. Howard was fined $15,000 by the league for “pushing Garnett in the neck area.”
Garnett will serve his suspension Wednesday night, when the Nets take on the Memphis Grizzlies. He will return Friday night at the earliest, when the Nets face the Washington Wizards and Paul Pierce, Garnett’s former teammate with the Celtics & Nets.
Garnett didn’t speak with the media following the ejection.
