Brooklyn Nets center Kevin Garnett did not travel with the team to Boston for Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics, the team announced Thursday. Garnett has fought back spasms and missed the team’s last three games.
Garnett played as a member of the Celtics for six seasons before getting traded to Brooklyn this offseason. The Nets traveled to Boston in January, giving Garnett and former Celtic Paul Pierce a moving tribute thanking them for their time in Boston.

The Nets later announced that guard Joe Johnson is battling illness and is a game-time decision. Johnson also played with the Celtics for one half of one season in his rookie year.
