In an otherwise quiet game against his former team for the future Hall of Fame forward, The Big Ticket ended with the biggest play of the night. With the Nets up three and the game clock under the crucial 24-second mark, Kevin Garnett snuck into the passing lane and stole a Rajon Rondo pass, driving the length of the floor to avoid a foul and tossing in a layup.
“I knew they were trying to run a pick-and-roll and Rondo was going to try a three, they need a three at that point, and I just played the passing lane,” Garnett said after about the play.
The shot put the Nets up 82-77 with under 20 seconds left. They went on to win the game, 85-79.
“It took me two days to get the layup,” the 37-year-old Garnett joked.
