Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams has been ruled out by the team’s training staff for the team’s matchup against the Detroit Pistons with a strained left calf, Nets coach Lionel Hollins announced before the game.
This is Williams’s first missed game of the season, and Jarrett Jack will make his first start of the season in Williams’s place.
Williams had an MRI Saturday after straining the calf in the team’s 95-91 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night, and was diagnosed with a low-grade strain. He is day-to-day.
Williams joins Nets center Brook Lopez on the inactive list. Lopez misses his eighth straight game with a lower back strain.
