Daily Link: Knicks wanted Deron?

Henry Abbott, head of our ESPN Truehoop Network, explores an interesting theory. He claims that Donnie Walsh, GM of the New York Knicks, actually wanted Deron Williams instead of Carmelo Anthony during this trade deadline.

I’m obviously biased, but I think that the Nets definitely got the better player. Williams can control the game with two facets of his game: passing and scoring. Carmelo is more of a one-dimensional scorer – a very good one, but nonetheless. Also, Williams would be an incredible fit for Mike D’Antoni’s fast paced system. Luckily, the Nets got the right player. Hopefully that lasts past the 11-12 NBA season.
