The Unfazable
Awarded to Paul Pierce, who shot better on contested three-pointers than uncontested three-pointers. Pierce converted 41 percent of his three-point attempts with a hand in his face, as opposed to just 36 percent of open three-pointers. One theory is that Pierce, who has a flat shot arc, shoots better when he’s forced to arc his shot upwards over a defender’s hand. Another is just blind luck.
