DraftExpress on Yahoo: Allen Crabbe:
Vitals: SG, 21 years old, University of Cal-Berkeley, Junior, 6’6″.
Stats: 18.4 PPG, 45.9% FG, 81.3% FT, 6.1 REB, 2.6 AST, 1.1 SPG, 0.7 BLKS, 2.5 TO’s, 36.2 MPG.
Crabbe is an interesting prospect for the Nets at 22nd. With confidence and patience with MarShon Brooks dwindling (#FreeMarShon), Crabbe might be the scoring replacement they need. DraftExpress’s mock draft on Yahoo! has Crabbe going 22nd to Brooklyn.
Crabbe’s stock has been rising after an impressive combine and many believe him to be one of the top prospects now in the 2013 draft. With an uncanny ability to score in volumes, Crabbe uses off-ball movement to get open. Putting Crabbe next to Lopez and Williams on offense could give him as many open looks as Gerald Wallace this year, yet Crabbe could make more layups (Sorry, Crash).
As DraftExpress has noted before:
Standing 6’6″ with long, wiry arms, Crabbe has good size to play the shooting guard position in the NBA, although he could stand to add a little more strength. While not an explosive athlete, Crabbe is very quick, both in the open court and when running off screens in the half court. He gets a good amount of his offense in transition, where both his ability to streak out and finish as well as his ability trailing the break provide him with scoring opportunities.
If this truly is the end of Brooks in Brooklyn, then Crabbe would be a good fit for the Nets. But for someone with a shooting touch, you’d hope he would shoot better than the 34.8% he shot from behind the college three.
