Game 4: April 8th, 2014: Nets @ Heat
– Box Score –
Another Heat/Nets game, another one-point Nets victory. Getting old, guys. Like with Game 7 in the opening-round series against the Raptors, Marcus Thornton had a great game off the bench, scoring 16 points on 6-8 shooting. Also like the aforementioned Game 7, the game was decided by a block near the rim in the final seconds: with three seconds left, LeBron James went in for the inevitable game winning slam, only to be denied by Nets rookie Mason Plumlee.
James’s nickname jersey may have read King James, but he was King Carp after the game, incredulously loitering in the tunnel post-game and lamenting the no call from the refs. Or he was giving the American Airlines Arena faithful an impromptu american sign language lesson. The jury is still out.
Besides the game-saving block, Plumlee dunked on the best basketball player in the world just a few minutes earlier for 2 of his eight points on 4-6 shooting. James had a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds, but did we mention Mason Plumlee?
