The Newness
Suffice it to say that the Nets haven’t had much time to learn the team’s system at NBA game speed. The franchise underwent a drastic makeover this offseason, ending the summer with only five returning players: Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, and MarShon Brooks. Three of those players -– Williams, Wallace and Lopez, all starters — missed significant time with injuries last season (Lopez missing 61 of the team’s 66 games), and Wallace was a deadline acquisition; the other two (Humphries and Brooks) have seen a minutes reduction in Brooklyn.
