Alan Anderson Won An MVP At Kevin Garnett’s Basketball Camp

by Devin Kharpertian November 22, 2013 Comments

A few guys on this Brooklyn Nets teams have ties from other places. Deron Williams and Andrei Kirilenko reunited after playing four seasons together with the Utah Jazz. Kirilenko reunited with Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov, who once owned a piece of CSKA Moscow, Kirilenko’s team in Russia. Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett famously played six seasons together with the Boston Celtics. Jason Terry joined them for the last year.

But one reunion you probably didn’t know about: Alan Anderson and Kevin Garnett. The Minneapolis-born Anderson met Garnett while the former was still in high school, winning an MVP at Garnett’s basketball camp. YES sat down with Garnett to speak with him about Anderson, someone he calls a “great kid” with a “great mom.” Anderson has similar praise for Garnett, saying that the interest Garnett showed in him as a young player inspired him to do the same thing for kids as a professional.
