Brooklyn Nets coach Avery Johnson announced to reporters today that starting small forward Gerald Wallace will sit out tonight with an injured left ankle. Wallace injured the ankle blocking a Kyle Lowry layup near the end of Saturday night’s game. Shooting guard Keith Bogans will start in his place.
Gerald Wallace’s status beyond tonight is unclear. The Nets play the Miami Heat in Miami Wednesday night, and Wallace’s defense would be useful against basketball thundergod LeBron James.
Backup small forward Josh Childress will also sit out tonight, also nursing an ankle injury.
