It hasn’t been tough to find Rondae Hollis-Jefferson around this offseason. He’s been making the rounds in Brooklyn (to check out the team’s new digs), as well as Pennsylvania & the Hamptons for basketball camps. Not to mention sharing his creative skills on his Twitter account, both poetry and piano.
Most recently, Hollis-Jefferson headed out to Monroe Township in New Jersey to help out with another basketball camp, to “give his time,” as he put it. “I’m a big people person, so it’s really good to be able to play and enjoy it,” Hollis-Jefferson said in the video.
Most of the video is of Hollis-Jefferson, voted the league’s funniest rookie by his fellow first-years, messing with the campers, whether taking a kid out of defense or getting scored on. But most importantly, Hollis-Jefferson showed a small child no mercy, taking him off the dribble and dunking straight over him (go to 1:30 in the above video, or watch below):
The child could not be reached for interview, though he seemed fine with what had transpired.
In all seriousness, there’s a memory that kid will have for the rest of his life, and it’s great to see Hollis-Jefferson involve himself in the local community. Conversely, he probably has a new fan for life in his dunk victim.
But for now, I’m content to just watch Hollis-Jefferson END THIS GAME, WITH NO REGARD FOR CHILD LIFE.
