Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett shared the floor as opponents in T.D. Garden for the first time in their careers on January 26, 2014, but if you judge by their introductions to the crowd, it certainly felt like home.
Garnett and Pierce, who spent six and 15 years respectively with the Celtics franchise were given a nice “home player” treatment by Celtics PA announcer Eddie Palladino. But it was nothing compared to the crowd’s reaction, the deafening frenzy that overtook the arena for a full minute. Garnett and Pierce gestured their appreciation to the crowd as cheers rained from the rafters.
A touching, humbling, real moment of affection between two players that gave their heart to a city, and the city that appreciated every moment.
