Seldom used Brooklyn Nets rookie small forward, Tornike Shengelia, a.k.a. – “Toko,” will be headed back to the Nets D-League affiliate the Springfield Armor, announced Nets GM Billy King today.
This is Toko’s third stint with the Armor this season. In three games with the team, he is averaging a staggering 28.3 PPG, 13.7 REB, 7.0 AST, 3.0 STLs, and 1.7 BLKs.
The move is probably best for the 20-year old, Georgian native who has seen severely limited action in the NBA. Shengelia has only played in 13 of the Nets’ 58 games and has only taken 7 shots this season. Allowing him to play heavy minutes in the D-League is clearly the right move for now.
