With Jarrett Jack sidelined for the rest of the season with a torn ACL, Lionel Hollins will turn to Shane Larkin in his stead: Larkin will start Monday night against the Boston Celtics in Jack’s absence, Hollins told reporters Monday night.
Larkin also started the first game of the season for the Nets, with Jack resting a sore left hamstring. In his lone start, Larkin played just 23 minutes, scoring six points and dishing out eight assists. On the season, Larkin has posted averages of 6.6 points, 3.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game, all career-highs. He’s also hit 18 of 39 three-point attempts (46.2%).
Donald Sloan will back up Larkin at the point guard spot. There are no other true point guards on the roster, though Markel Brown may get a shot as a third-string guard.
