Kris Humphries, PF 32 MIN | 5-6 FG | 2-2 FT | 9 REB | 3 AST | 12 PTS | +5
Had his hands full having to guard Nene for most of the night. Wasn’t involved a lot in the offense tonight but made the shots he took and rebounded just below his average. |
||
MarShon Brooks, G 30 MIN | 4-11 FG | 1-2 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 10 PTS | -7 Provided his usual offensive game. A+ for shot fakes. Would like to see him do what he does now just with less dribbling. Still looks lost defensively. |
||
Johan Petro, C 10 MIN | 2-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 0 REB | 1 AST | 4 PTS | +6
Only played nine minutes and didn’t turn the ball over which were positives. But he can’t guard anybody without fouling and needed a double-team to handle Nene which caused the Nets some rotation problems and got the Nuggets off early. |
||
Deron Williams, PG 38 MIN | 6-14 FG | 1-2 FT | 2 REB | 13 AST | 16 PTS | 0
Started out making his first few shots but seemed to settle on his perimeter game the rest of the night instead of continued attacking. Looked to get his teammates involved tonight and got himself 13 assists. Showed some fire with his ejection. |
||
Anthony Morrow, SG 38 MIN | 9-17 FG | 0-0 FT | 4 REB | 1 AST | 23 PTS | -12
Remains in his shooting groove, but gives a lot of the points he scores back defensively. We need more from him on that end, but he seemed more willing to battle it out tonight. |
||
Mehmet Okur, C 13 MIN | 3-5 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 2 AST | 8 PTS | -12
For his first game back after missing the last few Okur didn’t look all that bad. Made his shots and gave the Nets a little bit of life on the offensive end. God forbid he has to close out someone on defense though. |
||
Shelden Williams, PF 16 MIN | 0-3 FG | 0-0 FT | 3 REB | 0 AST | 0 PTS | -25
Looked old and slow today, basically everything you’d expect. Struggled to finish inside and struggled to guard Nene. |
||
Jordan Farmar, PG 23 MIN | 9-14 FG | 2-2 FT | 2 REB | 3 AST | 26 PTS | -1
One of his best games in a Nets uniform. Did his best to get the Nets back into the game in the fourth quarter. He carried our offense in the fourth quarter with his shooting and creating. Also mixed in a couple of charges on defense. It’s nice seeing him bounce back from being benched earlier in the season. |
Three Things We Saw
- As fun as the 20 three-pointers were, it was a more of a product of necessity for the Nets. Lots of our three-pointers were literally the only open shots the Nets could get. Compare that with the way the Nuggets slashed to the rim first and kicked out to shooters off of that play.
- Avery stated it postgame, but the loss of DeShawn Stevenson and Damion James is really hard for this team to overcome. Already a weak defensive squad, losing your two best perimeter defenders is crippling. Morrow and Brooks for as good as they are on offensively are just as bad defensively.
- Our big rotation is SO bad. Kris Humphries plays hard and gives solid production most nights but after him the options get thin. The trio of Johan Petro, Shelden Williams and Mehmet Okur can’t defend anyone, can’t play inside and provide no physical presence.
