The Brooklyn Nets will start this year’s foray into summer league basketball this evening when they tip off against the Memphis Grizzlies at 5PM. Of course, the Nets are competing in both the Orlando and Vegas Summer Leagues this year, so the next couple weeks will be jammed full of fun-but-meaningless games. For fans, it’s a chance to watch the new talent and training camp hopefuls and this year is no different — Cliff Alexander, Ryan Boatright, Josh Gasser and Austin Hollins join Rondae Hollis-Jeffferson, Markel Brown, Cory Jefferson and the International Man of Mystery Juan Vaulet on this year’s squad.
Villanova’s JayVaughn Pinkston was going to play on the team until he tore his ACL during the Nets’ first practice this week. And, surprisingly enough, the Nets signed Boatright to a partially guaranteed contract yesterday as well.
You can find the game on NBATV at 5PM, and it’s the final match-up on a full Independence Day slate — if you’re interested, there’s also a free trial of the service for today as well.
Happy Fourth of July from The Brooklyn Game Team!
