The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent big man Willie Reed to a partially guaranteed one-year deal, according to Shams Charania of RealGM.

The guarantee is reportedly for around $500,000, close to the one-year minimum for a player without NBA experience. He will join the team for Summer League.

Earlier in the day, Nets general manager Billy King said the team would look to add a big man or two. Assuming Reed’s deal is guaranteed through most of the season, he’s the 14th player to have a guaranteed contract with the Nets, with just one spot left for four non-guaranteed players — Earl Clark, Cory Jefferson, Markel Brown, and Ryan Boatright. All four are playing in Nets Summer League, though Jefferson has been sitting out to rest his ankle.

The Nets also have an outstanding qualifying offer to Mirza Teletovic. If he accepts it, the Nets will have 15 players on their roster before any potential trades.

Reed had been playing for the Miami Heat in Orlando Summer League. He has also played for the now-defunct Springfield Armor, when the Armor was the D-League affiliate for the Nets, and had been invited to Nets training camp before the 2014-15 season.

Reed has yet to play in an NBA game in his career despite playing 144 D-League games, averaging 15.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game in his D-League career.
