The Brooklyn Nets have announced the jersey numbers of their two rookies, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Chris McCullough, for the upcoming 2015-2016 season.
One choice will remind long-time fans of better days. Hollis-Jefferson has chosen to wear number 24. The last good Nets player to wear that jersey? Another Jefferson from Arizona: Richard Jefferson, who wore #24 until he was traded in 2008.[note]Kris Joseph and Larry Owens both wore the number during their short stints with the franchise.[/note]
As for McCullough, he’ll wear #1, quickly snapping up the free jersey following Mason Plumlee’s departure to Portland. Although McCullough hopes to play this season, it’s more likely than not that the freshman from Syracuse will miss the entire year. Other notable Nets to don the number include: Tiny Archibald, Ron Mercer, Marcus Williams, Rafer Alston, Terrence Williams, and C.J. Watson.
