The Brooklyn Nets have finalized Lionel Hollins’s coaching staff, surrounding him with six assistants, including one advanced scout.
Paul Westphal, John Welch, Tony Brown, Joe Wolf, and Jay Humphries will be Hollins’s assistants, while Jim Sann as an assistant coach/advance scout, the team announced today. Welch and Sann are holdovers from last season, with Sann working with the team since 2012. The hires have been previously reported, but the Nets made them official today. Westphal is the biggest name on the list, and the only one with NBA head coaching experience. Humphries and Wolf were both head coaches in the D-League.
After Jason Kidd left for the Milwaukee Bucks, assistant coaches Joe Prunty, Eric Hughes, and Sean Sweeney joined him with the Bucks franchise. Roy Rogers, who worked much of his coaching career with Lawrence Frank, is no longer with the organization. Frank’s role is currently unknown.
