The Brooklyn Nets dropped their first home loss against the Minnesota Timberwolves squad Wednesday night, losing 98-91 in ugly fashion to an inferior team. Everyone was unhappy with the team’s effort in the loss, and while that usually means leaving to steam over the loss in the comfort and confines of your own home, that didn’t work for two Nets assistants last night. Per Paul Westphal’s wife Cindy’s Twitter account:
Coaches Westphal&Welch won't leave BarclayCenter2nite.Staying up late2 break down film in prep4early meeting. Will sleep on sofas in office.

Cindy was referring to lead assistant Paul and offensive guru John Welch. Turns out she wasn’t exaggerating:

While we can’t say for sure if this ever happened last season, it’s hard to imagine the Nets spending an overnight going over game tape under Jason Kidd’s laissez-faire regime (though, to be fair, Welch came to the Nets under Kidd and is renowned for his work ethic).
We’ll see if the Nets assistants gleaned any insight that they can use on Friday against the New York Knicks.
