Brooklyn Nets center Kevin Garnett will miss his ninth straight game Monday night against the Phoenix Suns as he continues to fight back spasms, the team announced today.
Garnett last played on February 27th, a 12-minute stint in a blowout win over the Denver Nuggets. He was slated to play on March 10th against the Toronto Raptors, warming up on the team’s practice court at Barclays Center hours before the game. He was even written into the starting lineup. But he felt a tightness during warmups and was a late scratch. He hasn’t played since.
Other than a bad loss to the Boston Celtics and a late-game collapse against the Washington Wizards, the team hasn’t skipped a beat: they’ve gone 6-2 in their eight games without Garnett since the injury.
Mason Plumlee has started in Garnett’s absence, and will presumably get the call again tonight.
