Noted Nets fan, Brooklyn resident, and ex-team owner Jay-Z sat courtside at Staples Center with his wife Beyonce Monday night to watch the Nets take on the Los Angeles Clippers.
Down the stretch of that game, he saw a familiar sight: Chris Paul running his patented pick-and-roll offense down the stretch to bury the Nets in what was eventually a 105-93 Nets lodd.
After the game, Jay-Z caught up with Paul to ask him a simple question: what’s up with that?
Jay-Z AKA Sean Carter AKA Jigga AKA The Nets Could Go 0-for-82 And I Look At You Like This S— Gravy’s tongue-in-cheek comment highlights two things: first, that Chris Paul is a one-trick pony that won’t have a future in this league once opposing defenses figure out how to stop his so-called “pick-and-roll artistry”, and secondly, that Jay-Z knows that the Nets’ current lack of NBA-quality talent makes it easy for a player like Paul to take control down the stretc.
Maybe it’s just Jay-Z’s subconscious reacting to the fact that we now live in a world where it’s customary for him to show up to a Nets-Clippers game but avoid Nets-Lakers the next night.
