The Brooklyn Nets will hold a mini-camp for veterans from May 23rd to the 25th, reports Moke Hamilton of Basketball Insiders.
Without a first rounder in June’s draft, the Nets will have to build the back-end of their bench through patchwork and low-risk contracts. Of course, the fates of Shane Larkin, Thomas Robinson, and Wayne Ellington, all with player options, are yet to be determined, along with Willie Reed, team option, and Markel Brown, the lone restricted free agent.
In 2015-2016, the Nets struggled to get consistent contributions from everybody other than Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young, so general manager Sean Marks and head coach Kenny Atkinson, finally set to be introduced on Monday, will have their work cut out for them. However, with draft workouts scheduled and plenty of free agent buzz, the wheels of the creative front office are already turning.
Names of attendees have yet to be revealed, but with much of the roster in flux, there could certainly be some dark horse contenders for next year’s roster.
