With his sprained ankle still needing rest, Deron Williams will not make the week-long trip to London with the Brooklyn Nets, the team announced today.
Williams, who has dealt with numerous injuries to both ankles in the past two seasons, recently underwent platelet-rich plasma therapy treatment and cortisone shots in both ankles on January 7th. Williams had the same treatment heading into the All-Star Break last February, sitting out for a total of nine days after that treatment.
Williams’s rest means that his first game back will presumably be against the cross-bridge rival New York Knicks on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 20th.
As part of the NBA’s Global Games Initiative, the Nets play the Atlanta Hawks at the 02 Arena in London on Thursday, January 16th.
