Deron Williams didn’t take long to make his impact felt in the first quarter, crossing Jose Calderon back and forth with a series of crossovers and a spin, before ducking around Brook Lopez burying a 17-foot jumper from the top of the key.
It’s this type of movement that leaves open that sliver of hope that Williams can be a dominant point guard force in spurts for the Nets: there are some point guards that just cannot stay in front of him. That said, it did come against Jose Calderon, who has all the defensive acumen of a ham hock.
