Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams, while nursing an injured ankle he sustained working out at his home in Utah, once believed he’d be back before the team began training camp. Now, over three weeks later, that wish may finally come true, in the team’s final preseason game before Wednesday’s opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Nets have listed Williams as a game-time decision against the Miami Heat tonight in Miami. Williams has yet to play with the team in preseason but has slowly returned to practice at full contact, playing 5-on-5 scrimmages in practice.
It looks like Reggie Evans believes Williams is ready to go:
Good to have my homie @DeronWilliams back.

Even if he does play, Williams likely won’t start against the Heat, who will rest forward LeBron James. The Nets will also rest Kevin Garnett.
