The Nets were down one point guard this morning, and now they’re down two before the game.
Nets coach Jason Kidd announced that guard Deron Williams will rest with “right patella tendinitis,” with rookie guard Jorge Gutierrez starting in Williams’s place. This follows a report that Shaun Livingston, nursing a sprained right big toe, will also sit out. Alan Anderson was set to start in Livingston’s place, but will also sit out with a sore abdominal muscle. Andrei Kirilenko will start.
Kidd added that the rest was mostly precaution, and that Williams would start if this was a playoff game.
Andray Blatche, who sat both of the team’s back-to-back Florida games with an undisclosed illness, is active and expected to play.
