NBA on ESPN is launching a top-500 player rankings list, releasing their rankings for every player in the NBA (plus fifty that aren’t), from 500 down to 1. Discussion on the rankings is happening on Twitter under the hashtag #NBARank.
The Nets are well-represented early, with five players in the bottom 100 – Orien Greene at 484, Jordan Williams at 475, Stephen Graham at 443, Ben Uzoh at 412, and Sundiata Gaines at 402. Greene, Graham, and Uzoh are free agents.
No word on how Travis Outlaw and Johan Petro broke the top 400.
Sports Illustrated’s Zach Lowe also came out with some NBA player rankings, choosing instead to highlight the top 100. While the Nets don’t have quite the representation at the top with Lowe as they do at the bottom with ESPN, the two names you’d expect are on the list: Brook Lopez ranks 49th (behind eight centers), while Deron Williams ranks 7th, behind just one point guard: Chris Paul, who ranks sixth.
For those of you curious, MVP Derrick Rose ranks 9th.
