The Brooklyn Nets have once again assigned rookies Tornike Shengelia and Tyshawn Taylor to their D-League Affiliate Springfield Armor. This is the fifth assignment for Shengelia and the fourth for Taylor. In seven games with the Armor, Shengelia is averaging 25.1 points, 8.6 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.3 steals per game. In five games, Taylor is averaging 25.4 points, 7.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
It’s unclear how long the Nets will keep Taylor & Shengelia with the Armor, but the send-down today means that the two won’t make the trip to Detroit tonight. The Armor play next Tuesday against the Erie Bayhawks.
For those of you curious, teams can send down and call up players at the organization’s whim as much as they choose in their first three years of service in the NBA. After the first three years, teams require consent from the player.
