Ersan Ilyasova was a good man. I say “was” because Brook Lopez ensured that Ersan Ilyasova is no longer in existence in human form. He now merely lives trapped in a YouTube clip, after Lopez dunked all over him to open the third overtime of Nets-Bucks. The Nets ended up winning in that overtime, 129-127.
“It was just a good look,” Lopez said of the dunk. “They had to respect J(arrett)-Jack coming off the pick-and-roll, and he made a great pass, so I was able to finish it easy.”
Joe Johnson was actually the one that made the pass to Lopez, but the finish was all the same.
The play was also called as Ilyasova’s sixth foul, which meant he was powerless to effect any further change. Brook Lopez literally ended his night.
Lopez finished the game with 32 points and a season-high 18 rebounds.
