The NBA lockout has left 2011 free agents in a sort of limbo; players with uncertain destinations can’t sign with any clubs until the owners and players come to some sort of agreement. Nets forward Brandan Wright is one of these players – and though the restricted free agent is a bit uncertain, he seems to think he’ll be in a New Jersey uniform next season:
“There’s a chance I might not go back (to New Jersey), but we don’t know — especially with all the labor stuff,” Wright said. “Right now it’s looking like I’ll be back there. But you never know. It’s a business. You don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Wright adds that the trade from Golden State to New Jersey was “totally expected” and he considered the move “a fresh start.”
None of us know what’s going to happen in the coming weeks and months – Wright included. But if Wright doesn’t garner a lot of interest in free agency, wants to return, and the Nets offer him a small contract, I think it couldn’t hurt to have him shore up the frontcourt.
